Dr. Michael Putnam, DVM — Chief of Staff
Dr. Michael Putnam, our Chief of Staff, is a 1990 graduate of Eastern Illinois University with a B.S. in Zoology and a minor in Chemistry. He is a 1995 graduate of Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Putnam and his family moved to Richmond, Kentucky after the sale of their Illinois based veterinary hospital in 2007. While in Illinois, he was the Rabies administrator for Adams and McDonough Counties. During that time, Dr. Putnam was also in charge of the local animal shelter. Under his management, they where able to achieve the highest adoption rate and lowest euthanasia rate for that shelter in more than 30 years.
Kayla McCarthy, DVM
Dr. Kayla McCarthy grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio and currently resides in London, Kentucky. She received an undergraduate degree from Miami University and earned her DVM degree from the Lincoln Memorial University College of Veterinary Medicine. Prior to joining the Richmond Veterinary Clinic team, Dr. McCarthy practiced in Kettering, Ohio. Her special interests include surgery.
Outside of work, Dr. McCarthy enjoys anything outdoors, especially hiking, kayaking, and camping. She also has one dog at home named, Eve.
